Deciphering Messages & Medicine
Lately, I’ve been reading Evolutionary Herbalism by Sajah Popham. In the book, Sajah mentions connecting to plants through the heart space and outward. Involving our parasympathetic system. Our intellectual and rational center falls back as our hearts extend to connect to the energetic field of our senses and surroundings.
A visionary exercise
Opening the window of the heart: preparing for communication
Envision a window in the heart, envision opening an old and beautiful shutter, and wind blowing the curtains, symbolizing a clearing of energy and a release from the heart to open and clear the space.
This is an example of a visionary experience that I created and use. Envision whatever pleases you to help clear and open your heart space, maybe a candle being lit within, or any embodiment of clearing or awakening within the heart space, to prepare for authentic connection to receive direct communication.
Communication with the energetics of plants
We connect to plants by entering a non-ordinary state of consciousness, a state of heart and internal coherence, to perceive the messages and visions that plants use to communicate. To enter a state of communion is to enter a deep state of intimacy and vulnerability with the world around you. With each breath, inhale and deepen the energetic communication into you. Each exhale transfers your energetic communication back into the plant. This is a process of entrancement, moving your heart field through the theoretical static until you find the right “station” in search of synchronization with the plant. A shift in consciousness, a subtle inward gaze occurs, and you “click” into harmony with the plant. A subtle relief, like a deep sigh into awareness with the plant’s consciousness. Through this perception, you learn about the plant nonverbally. Consciously imprint your intention and communication into the plant’s essence. Stay aware of all you perceive internally and externally. Stay aware of the acute shifts of consciousness within your body and within your environment. These symbols and sensitivities are ways the plant shares its unique semantics.
Stay present, leave your mind space, and become authentically connected to your heart space. Repeat the process of engagement and disengagement. Connect with the plant in your heart space, seeking to understand its medicine, then disengage from this space and into the intellectual to interpret the meaning of what is received.

Decoding the messages
This form of communication is beyond thinking; messages are administered through feeling, emerging from beyond ourselves. Plants communicate not through words but through feeling, visions, symbolism, memory, song, and senses. This is a feeling-based language, through a flow of communication. The mind will decode the meaning of the feelings being received by your heart space. Your brain may decode this meaning through a vision, audible words, physical sensations, emotions, sensations, or intuitive understandings, depending on one’s personal style of learning and what resonates.
Linked below is a guide I created on the styles of intuition and clairvoyance that can be used to connect to our psychic and intuitive selves when communicating and deciphering nonphysical realities and messages from plants.

This relationship of meditative and psychic communication and interpretation has been practiced for thousands of years. Plants have shared their messages and aid to our ancestors, we have evolved alongside these plants and with their medicines and teachings.
These are merely first impressions, the beginning of the relationship, just like any friendship involving commitment and continual connection. Listening to what the plants have to share with you will kindle the fire of an intricate and ancient partnership and practice.
